“The taste of a mother’s hands”
Every vorta we sell is roasted, pounded and seasoned by Bangladeshi mothers and homemakers from the Dallas–Fort Worth community — in small batches, with the recipes they grew up with, in our health-inspected Dallas kitchen.
Ask anyone from Bangladesh where the best vorta comes from and the answer is never a restaurant. It comes from home — from Ammu, Nani or Khala, who roasts a few eggplants on the flame, pounds garlic and chilies on the shil-pata without measuring a thing, and gets it right every single time.
That is the taste we want to share, so that is who cooks it. Our vortas are made by Bangladeshi mothers and homemakers who live here in Dallas–Fort Worth. They cook in small batches, the home-made way: roasting over an open flame, pounding by hand, and finishing with raw mustard oil, fresh green chilies and a squeeze of lime.
We don’t turn their cooking into a factory recipe. Each vorta keeps the method and balance of the home it comes from — we simply make sure it is cooked the same careful way every time, in a clean, inspected, professional kitchen.

Vorta changes from one corner of Bangladesh to the next. Each of our cooks brings the style of her home district — the way her own mother made it — and our vortas are richer for it.
Shutki country. Coastal dried fish such as loitta and chingri, flame-roasted until smoky and pounded with plenty of garlic, onion and dried red chili.
Hills, tea gardens and big flavors: the bright, bitter-citrus perfume of shatkora and the serious heat of the naga chili.
River and coconut country in the southern delta, where freshly grated coconut, mustard and kalojira often find their way into the mash.
On the edge of the Sundarbans, the home of shrimp and prawns — and of chingri vortas pounded with green chili and fresh coriander.
Mango country in the north-west: tangy green-mango vorta in season, and comforting dal and potato vortas all year round.
Rivers and haor wetlands, where small freshwater fish become chepa shutki — cooked down with heaps of onion, garlic and chili.
No pastes from a jar and no shortcuts. Every batch goes through the same five steps a mother follows in her own kitchen.
Eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, chilies and coriander bought fresh. Shutki is picked over, cleaned and soaked with care.
Vegetables, shutki and dried chilies are roasted over an open flame until smoky and blistered.
Pounded by hand on the shil-pata with raw onion and garlic, to the coarse texture a real vorta should have.
Mixed by hand with raw mustard oil, green chilies, salt and herbs — then tasted by the cook who made it.
Sealed in labeled, dated containers and kept chilled until your pickup or delivery.

Our cooks bring their recipes from home, but your order is never cooked in a home kitchen. Every vorta is made in a permitted commercial kitchen in Dallas that is inspected by the local health authority, to the same rules as any restaurant.
Bangladeshi mothers are the keepers of our food, yet their skill is rarely paid or recognized outside the family. Our kitchen is built around that skill — and built around their lives, so that cooking with us never has to come before family.
Shifts planned around school runs and family time. Choose the days that work for you.
Cooking is skilled work. Every hour in our kitchen is paid fairly and on time.
Cook alongside other Bangladeshi women, speak Bangla in the kitchen and share a cup of cha.
We taste your vortas, learn your way of making them and keep what makes them yours.
